Focus and Scope

The Journal of Contemporary Islamic Educational Frameworks (JCIEF) was established as a leading platform for intellectual discourse among academics, researchers, and practitioners to analyze and reconstruct the paradigm of Islamic education in an era of disruption. Islamic education today faces an existential challenge: integrating traditional spiritual values with technological innovation without compromising their meaning. In response, this journal exclusively curates and publishes scholarly works that offer new frameworks both conceptual and operational to address increasingly complex educational challenges.

Main Focus
The journal’s publication focus centers on multidisciplinary investigations of the Islamic education ecosystem. This journal does not accept articles on purely Islamic studies (such as exegesis, hadith, or Islamic law) unless such studies are explicitly integrated into and make a direct contribution to the formulation of the philosophy, policy, curriculum, or learning practices of Islamic education.

Scope
To maintain its academic specialization, this journal’s publications focus on the following clusters:

(1) Epistemology and Curriculum Reconstruction: This cluster features research focused on the integration of knowledge, overcoming the dichotomy between Islamic studies and modern science, and formulating new paradigms in Islamic education curricula.

(2) Pedagogical Innovation and Digital Transformation: This cluster features studies on the adaptation of Islamic education in the era of artificial intelligence, the development of interactive digital learning media, and ethical considerations regarding the use of technology to enhance students’ conceptual understanding and engagement.

(3) Ecopedagogy and Environmental Sustainability: Focuses on integrating ecological piety and environmental ethics into Islamic educational practice as a critical response by educational institutions to the climate crisis and contemporary environmental degradation.

(4) Institutional Management and Integrative Leadership: Explores models of transformative leadership, integrated quality assurance, and governance strategies in madrasahs, pesantren, and Islamic schools in the face of global educational standardization.

(5) Inclusive Education and Social Justice: Examines the role of Islamic education in fostering creative minority groups, advocating for gender justice (such as the Dirasah Nisaiyah program), providing education for marginalized groups, and instilling the universal values of pesantren.

(6) Digital Citizenship and Conflict Resolution: Investigating the role of Islamic education in shaping students’ cyber ethics, a culture of tabayyun on social media (such as evaluating da’wah content on TikTok/Instagram), and peace counseling approaches to address social conflicts.
